There are currently many scholars doing family research. However, the Family Studies Center, at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, has the largest concentration of family scholars in the world. More than 75 faculty members at Brigham Young University focus on marriage, parenting, and family development.

The mission of the Family Studies Center is to make unique and valuable contributions to strengthening families by encouraging, sponsoring, coordinating, and disseminating the university’s intellectual effort related to the family.

The fundamental guiding document of the Family Studies Center is The Family: A Proclamation to the World, by the First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Family Studies Center associates seek to understand and promote the principles articulated in this proclamation through research, with outreach activities for interested audiences worldwide. This section of the website has the goal of promoting the same values, principles, and knowledge of the Family Studies Center through the Internet. However, it is not affiliated with the Center, nor is the Center responsible for the content of this website.
